Cookie policy

This page explains what cookies are, which ones basilspice.com uses and how you can control them. It was last updated on 8 October 2026.

What cookies are

Cookies are small text files that a website saves on your phone, tablet or computer. They help a site work, remember your choices and show the people who run it how the site is being used.

Who we are

This website is run by Choice Ruby Limited, trading as Basil Spice, 2 Adams Business Centre, Cranes Farm Road, Basildon, Essex SS14 3JF. If you have a question about cookies, email table@basilspice.com or call 01268 523526.

The cookies we use

Cookies the site needs

These keep the site secure and working, for example when you use the booking form. The site would not work properly without them.

Analytics cookies

We use Google Analytics, set up through Google Site Kit, to count visits and see which pages people use, so we can improve the site. It sets cookies in your browser, such as _ga and _ga_ followed by an ID, which can last up to two years. The information is anonymous when it reaches us.

Offers and pop-ups

We use OptinMonster to show offers and notices. It can save a cookie to remember that you have seen or closed a pop-up, so we do not show it to you again straight away.

Content from other websites

Some content on our pages comes from other services, such as the customer reviews carousel and TripAdvisor reviews, fonts from Google Fonts and maps from Google. If you follow our links to order online at basilspice.co.uk, that site has its own cookies. These services can set their own cookies, and we do not control them. Please check their cookie policies.

Because third parties set some of these cookies, and they can change, we cannot list every cookie name and length of time here.

How to control cookies

If you block all cookies, parts of the website, such as the booking form, may stop working.
